About Us
The Meaning Behind Our Name
Kawailani means “heavenly water”—a name that holds deep spiritual and personal meaning for our founder, Hannah Poepoe.
While praying for direction in naming the practice, Hannah felt God speak the words “Living Water”—a message of hope, renewal, and divine purpose. Around the same time, a client described her care as carrying the Aloha spirit, and that moment planted a seed to honor both the people she served and the island roots that have shaped her journey.
Shortly after, a former client connected Hannah with a Kumu at Kamehameha Schools. She shared her heart, her dreams for the practice, and the name God had placed in her spirit. The Kumu offered the name Kawailani, which means heavenly water. It was the perfect reflection—of Living Water, of her faith, and of the healing mission she felt called to pursue.
In John 4, Jesus speaks with a woman at the well and tells her, “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” That message continues to inspire Hannah—personally and professionally—as she walks alongside others in their own healing journeys.
This story is shared not to promote any belief, but to offer insight into the heart and purpose behind Kawailani Wellness. We honor each person’s unique path and welcome all, regardless of background or belief, with openness and respect.

About Dr. Hannah
Aloha! I’m Hannah—a Doctor of Occupational Therapy and certified Pelvic Rehab Fertility Specialist with a heart for whole-person healing.
I grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia, where my love for movement and wellness began through years of playing competitive soccer. That passion led me to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science from Tusculum University, where I also played collegiate soccer. I later pursued my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Gannon University in Ruskin, Florida—where I discovered my calling to support women through pelvic health, fertility care, and integrative wellness.
In 2024, I followed a calling and moved to Maui. I was drawn to the island’s slower pace, its emphasis on connection, and the healing energy that lives here. I saw a need—a gap left by providers who often rotate off-island—and felt called to offer consistent, compassionate care for the women of this community.
Here on Maui, I’ve built a life with my husband. Together, we raise my wonderful stepson and our chocolate goldendoodle, Benito. Through both my professional path and personal journey, I’ve come to believe that healing happens when we slow down and create space—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—to truly be seen, supported, and restored.
At Kawailani Wellness, I offer care that meets you where you are—with expertise, compassion, and aloha.
